Child Sponsorship Program

Helping children stay in school

In September 2023, we launched our Child Sponsorship Program, designed to give disadvantaged children the opportunity to stay in school and receive a quality education. By connecting them with caring sponsors, we provide the financial support and guidance they need to grow academically and personally.

This program not only helps children break the cycle of poverty, but also strengthens community bonds and encourages shared responsibility. Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of these children and giving them the chance to build a brighter, more hopeful future.

How it works

At Garizim Foundation, our Child Sponsorship Program aims to give children from disadvantaged families the chance to dream, learn, and thrive. Here’s how it works:

Call for sponsors

August-September

Each year in August, we open a call for sponsors. Individuals or groups who are interested fill out an expression-of-interest form, participate in a training session, and commit to supporting a child’s education.

Match sponsors & kids

September

Based on the number of sponsors, we select children from vulnerable families who show motivation and potential at school. This allows us to ensure that each child we enroll receives comprehensive support.

Enrollment & purchases

September - October

We use the funds provided by sponsors to pay school fees, purchase supplies and uniforms, and prepare the children for the school year.

Mentoring & follow up

November - June

Our volunteer field agents and mentors visit the families regularly, encourage the children in their studies, and ensure that resources are being used effectively. They also help the children set goals, build confidence, and stay motivated.

Community engagement

Year round

Families commit to supporting their children’s education and collaborating with the mentors, while teachers and the community provide guidance and a safe environment for learning.

Reporting & transperency

(Quaterly + End of school year)

Sponsors receive regular updates, financial reports, and have the opportunity to correspond with the child they support. At the end of the school year, families and sponsors provide feedback to help assess the impact of the program.

When Djeinabou’s family was no longer able to pay her school fees, she was at risk of dropping out. Thanks to a caring sponsor, she received the support she needed. Today, Djeinabou is thriving in class and dreams of becoming a nurse.
